Robert A. Sobieszek. British Masters of
the Albumen Print: A Selection of Mid-Nineteenth-Century Victorian
Photography. International
Museum of Photography at George Eastman House & The
University of Chicago Press, Chicago & London, 1976
Image Caption List
Note: The size and format of the carte-de-visite and the
stereograph produced in England were highly standardized during this
period. The carte-de-visite image was approximately 9 x 5.7 cm. on a
mount of approximately 10x 6.5 cm. The single half of a stereograph
was approximately 6.4 x 7.7 cm. on a mount of approximately 8 x 18
cm., and there are two side by side on this mount. Because of this
standardization the size of such images is not indicated in the
catalogue except in the case of unmounted single stereographs.
